Fleeting Landscapes
It appears at first glance when you walk into the room that I am the only one moving and everything else is almost rooted to the spot.

Well, you would think as a swing, I am forever in flux. Always moving ever so slightly, hanging in a corner watching everything around me. But in this house, as in many other houses perhaps, nothing is truly unmoving. Every object dwelling in the space and every person residing in the place is always in flux. I wonder why this is so. Why are these heavy objects always moved around so much? Why don’t the smaller pieces stay? There is a seemingly never-ending urge to arrange and rearrange. New people coming in makes the house unstable, whilst people leaving the house do much the same.

For me, there is no moment of rest. The strong winds that rustle the leaves on the surrounding trees outside the window, shake me as well. The kids transform me into the most unimaginable forms and places, sometimes I am a tree house, sometimes a ship surrounded by sharks. Oh, the fun we have!

I have witnessed a metamorphosis of many things in the house. It is strange that we feel protected inside this space. The windows and the walls are almost a mirage of a sanctuary, for the changing winds and cascading storms seep through; they touch and transform the objects and the people alike. If you look closely, inside and outside, everything is always moving, always in flux, much like me. However, I have always remained in this one corner throughout the course of my life, in some ways I have been more stable than everything around me.
