Night Outside The Museum
A black stone horse emerged in the city square in the bustling city of Bombay, India. The year was 2017, marking seventy years of independence. Thus, the horse was born free. It had been 52 years since this square had been empty. The one who stood in the same place since the year 1879 was, in some ways one could say, hidden. The new black horse had to resemble the old statue and at the same time be nothing like the old statue. It was a crisis of identity for this black horse. He stood over the busy square, as people walked by without so much as a glance. The place where he stood was a traffic island, but since today, one spot was reserved for him. Towering twenty-five feet above the ground, the horse, nonetheless, seemed to almost melt into the background. He yearned to look around him and see the city, and all he had to do was wait for the night.
